Apostasy
You never ask me where I'm coming from or where I'm going
You wrap my image in a ball of light that's always glowing
You wanna take me home
You wanna take me home
I got my makeup at the pharmacy, thanks for asking
It hides my age while I give up on love thats everlasting
You wanna take me home
You wanna take me home
I love to play this game
I love to rearrange my name
I love to change my clothes
So everybody knows
I only feel, I'm only real
I only feel when I sing
I watch you dancing like a martyr to the spell you're under
I've got the patience of a lightning bolt demanding thunder
I wanna take you home
I wanna take you home
I keep on wishing I could want you without losing power
I'm growing weaker by the minute, dying by the hour
I wanna take you home
I wanna take you home
I love to play this game
I love to rearrange my name
I love to change my clothes
So everybody knows
I only give, I only live
I only give when I sing
Why am I yearning to play games against a total stranger?
I've been in love before, maybe you're the lesser dangerLast edited by Animal; 11-11-2019, 08:05 PM.

I suck at poetry, never really written it, but here's an attempt.
She's like a siren, don't ever get too close.
She'll drive men to places they never thought they'd go.
All the makings of a dying star.
A Super Nova, Old Hollywood, and looks like Hedy Lamarr.
Be careful that you don't get burned.
There's a long line of guys who've had their turn.
And they've learned.
That she's a girl trapped in glass.
A beauty frozen beneath ice.
And they claw at her.
The etching away of love.
Men have died in the arctic
Chipping away desperately at the ice of her heart.
The Antarctica of her soul.
Cold and unforgiving and desolate.
But like Everest, it draws men to their doom
In their love of tying to conquer it.

The plan was to take the month of June off to just dig deep and write an album about the loss of my father and breaking up with the woman I would have married in a heartbeat. I got busy with work so I'm pushing it back to August. But August seems more fitting in a way. August is when it all started to go down. But last night, I wrote the first song for the album.
You were stars over Paris
I was staring into darkness
With the heavens wheeling 'round us
Thought the universe had finally found
Two lovers to take a chance on.
Lovers come midnight
All your secrets, all mine.
Lovers at midnight.
Promises, promises.
Your hair in that light,
Your smile when I wasn't alright.
Your eyes, your eyes.
A kind of respite.
Now your tongue, now your heart.
I've tasted you now you're tearing me apart.
Now your tears and the salt of mine.
Closer. Closer.
The universe stared upon us once.
And we stared back.
Unblinking.

You're the first thought when I wake.
You're a swelter on a lake.
A blossom and a midnight ache.
A presence when I go to sleep.
When I go to sleep it's you, it's you, it's you who I'm thinking of.
That night downtown you got so drunk
Leaning on me I had to hold you up.
Then that night at the wedding
I wanted so hard but you weren't letting
So many memories I'm not telling
But memories can't bring you back
Memories are washed out like rain.
Memories can't bring you back.
No flood gonna wash away this pain.
I saw your eyes and and I held your kiss
Sirens in the distance, I remember your hair flip.
Never thought I'd love like this.
Never thought I'd hurt again.
Never thought I'd hurt like this.
Well it's sunset somewhere baby.
It's sunset and you're ready'n for bed
I'm waiting for the stars to come out so I can clear my head
Gonna think about all the ways I could've been better
Wishing we could've been nearer
Think about all the ways I failed you
It was so pure, so clear.
Guess I'll have another beer.
Cause missing you under starlight
Reminds me about all the beauty, all those lovely things
One can find in life.
Wolves are out and I can hear em howling.
But I'll never let em get to me.
Never let em get near.
Wolves are out with their sharp teeth.
And they're coming, coming.
We held hands and we watched the water
It was still and silent and I thought of our future daughter
I thought about all the ways I'd ask you
But I never thought about this.
Thought I'd never have to.
I never saw it coming, never saw it coming.
Wolves are out again, they're coming closer to the fenceline.
They're closing in but I got my shotgun darling.
They're so close I can hear them snarling.
You're the only thing where mind's at when it starts wandering.
And I'm here with the woods and the stars
Thinking of all our kisses in those dive end bars.
Thinking of my lips on your neck.
Thinking of the smell of sex.
Your skin, your eyes, your hair.
The taste of blood.
I'm alone under stars.
And the night hums of you.
