Something I just wrote in response to "What is the "Rejection triad?"" (I'm paraphrasing the question.)

Rejection in this context refers to rejecting one's own needs. Type 2 rejects their own needs in order to focus on others' needs (Pride: I don't need you, you need me). Type 8 rejects their own needs in order to feel autonomous, as if to say that there is nothing in the world that the 8 wants that they can't just "grab" (by the pussy?) if they so choose. Type 5 denies their own needs in an effort to be free from desire, (Buddhist philosophy is very 5-ish,) to be as objective and removed as possible.

By doing this, each seeks to become master of their own universe: master of the heart/relational realm, master of the physical world, and master of the mind. The Rejection triad is, for this reason, also known as the "Power triad."
